Panaji: Goa police on Monday said that they have acted swiftly and arrested the accused whenever any crime is reported in the state.Goa police said that as a preventive step to keep a check on hardcore criminals, they are keeping a watch on history-sheeters, and conducting regular tenant verification in Goa. “Goa police have always been very fast and effective whenever any case is reported,” police said while reacting to opposition criticism over deteriorating law and order in the state.Goa police said both the accused in the Parra murder case were apprehended within four hours. Two Odisha natives murdered their relative at a construction site in Parra after the deceased attacked one of the accused on the previous day.Goa police said that in the taxi driver assault case, Pernem police team chased the accused till Sawantwadi and apprehended one within six hours. Continuing the chase across Maharashtra, the team apprehended two more others the next night.Referring to the six vehicle thefts last week, Goa police said five cases have been solved with the arrest of the accused and recovery of vehicles. In the Calangute assault case reported last night, Goa police said the Calangute police station team immediately registered an FIR, and multiple teams are working to catch the accused.
“We conduct tenant and labour verification on a daily basis and take preventive measures under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and keep a check on history-sheeters,” police said. “Whenever a case is reported, swift investigation is done. We are committed to keeping the residents of the state safe.”
