That's because the NBA player was a Norman, Oklahoma, high school basketball player. He was also a member of the Sooners' collegiate basketball team.Rayford Young, Young's father, was a professional basketball player in Europe and a former Texas Tech standout. Although he was born in Texas, Trae Young spent his childhood in Oklahoma, where he attended Norman North High School. He also helped the team win the 2015 regional title. After that, he committed to the Sooners at the University of Oklahoma.
