Jake Paul revealed that his sparring partner, Lawrence Okolie, gave him a huge blow, leaving him with a black eye. Paul detailed the incident while speaking to Adin Ross on YouTube. “I’m sparring a bunch of world champion heavyweights, I think Lawrence Okolie did that to me. He’s like 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds,” Paul explained. Okolie, Britain’s former world cruiserweight champion, has transitioned successfully into the heavyweight division and is currently scheduled to face Moses Itauma in a WBC eliminator in Nigeria.

Lawrence Okolie previously expressed his fascination with sparring Paul, noting that he wanted the American to experience a world-class heavyweight firsthand before stepping into the ring with Joshua. “I want to know what it is that allows Jake Paul to say to himself: ‘I’m going to get in there with a 250-pound muscle man from England, this big guy, Olympic gold, former two-time heavyweight world champion, in front of millions of fans on Netflix,’” Okolie said.

Anthony Joshua prepares for Paul with a weight advantage

While Paul continues to recover and refine his skills, Anthony Joshua is confident and focused on the fight. Joshua has addressed fan expectations, saying, “I really understand where they’re coming from. I know the expectations and demands... so I’ve got to knock Jake out and that’s my intention, seek and destroy!” The bout will feature a 245-pound weigh-in limit for Joshua, slightly below his usual fighting weight of 253 pounds.
