Who is Siddharth Kaushal? Andhra Pradesh IPS officer takes VRS after 13 years in service; denies harassment or external pressures

VIJAYAWADA: Siddharth Kaushal, a 2012-batch AP cadre IPS officer, announced his resignation from govt service, drawing early curtains on his career in the police department. In a press statement issued by him Wednesday, Kaushal said, “The decision to take VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) was made purely on personal grounds after deep personal reflection.

It is a step taken in alignment with my longterm life goals and the wishes of my family members.” Rubbishing media reports that linked his resignation to alleged harassment or external pressure, Siddharth Kaushal termed them completely baseless and misleading, stating, “My decision is entirely independent, personal, and voluntary.” “Serving in IPS was the most fulfilling and enriching journey of my life. My years in AP were a privilege.

I have always considered AP my home state, and the people of AP will continue to remain in my heart with deep affection and pride,” Kaushal’s statement read. Siddharth thanked AP govt, his seniors, colleagues, subordinates and every citizen he had the honour of serving. “As I move forward, I do so with gratitude, purpose and clarity, looking to contribute to society in new and meaningful ways in years to come,” Kaushal said. An IIM graduate, the senior IPS officer, in his career spanning 13 years, served as SP of Prakasam, Kurnool and Krishna districts and Guntakal division GRP SP. He is currently working as SP (admin) at AP DGP office
