The greats always know their place in history, and Rafael Nadal is no exception.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion recently revealed his personal “Mount Rushmore of tennis", confidently including himself among the sport’s immortals.

Speaking to Complex while attending the E1 Series finale in Miami, Nadal, who retired in 2024 after a 23-year career featuring 92 ATP titles and two Olympic golds, didn’t hesitate when asked to name the four greatest tennis players of all time.

“Perhaps Rod Laver, Djokovic, Federer, and probably myself," Nadal said with a smile.

When the interviewer quipped that he was glad Nadal included his own name, the Spaniard replied matter-of-factly:

“Yes, you have to be humble but also clear. And the numbers say that."

Few could argue. Nadal’s record speaks for itself.

As one of the fiercest competitors in sports history, he dominated on clay with an unprecedented 14 French Open titles, while also completing a career Grand Slam and an Olympic double.

Now, with his racquet retired, Nadal has turned his competitive drive to a new arena — the E1 Series electric boat championship.

His Team Rafa narrowly missed out on the 2025 title in Miami, finishing just behind Tom Brady’s team after nine thrilling races across four continents.

Even off the water, Nadal remains a mentor and symbol of excellence. Over the weekend, he was spotted dining with 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy Joao Fonseca, one of tennis’s fastest-rising stars who capped off his debut season inside the ATP top 25.
