Law enforcement confirmed the arrest of two men connected to a case involving a professional athlete’s vehicle. One of those arrested was identified as the brother of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, pulling the NFL star’s family into a developing situation that quickly crossed league lines.According to authorities, the case centers on an SUV belonging to Los Angeles Lakers forward Adou Thiero. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that 27-year-old Samson Nacua and 27-year-old Trey Rose were taken into custody on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Deputies were called to the One Hotel in West Hollywood after the SUV was tracked to the location, information first reported by NBC4 Investigates.

Investigators said the suspects had valeted the SUV before entering the hotel. Security footage played a key role in the case, allowing deputies to identify both individuals soon after arriving at the scene. The two men were arrested shortly afterward and remain behind bars as the investigation continues.

Law enforcement officials have not clarified where or when the SUV was initially taken. It also remains unclear whether either suspect has legal representation at this stage. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not announced a court date or provided further details surrounding the circumstances that led to the alleged incident.

Who is Samson Nacua?

The arrest has drawn attention beyond the legal matter due to the profiles involved.

Samson Nacua is the younger brother of Puka Nacua, one of the NFL’s fastest rising stars with the Rams. The brothers previously played together at BYU during the 2021 college football season.Samson Nacua has pursued a professional football career of his own, spending time with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints, along with stints in the USFL and UFL. Most recently, he played for the Michigan Panthers, where he appeared in nine games and scored two touchdowns last season. Earlier this year, he served a one-game suspension following an on-field altercation with a fan.The case also places a spotlight on Lakers forward Adou Thiero, whose SUV was allegedly taken without consent.
