The Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series victory parade on November 3 drew thousands of fans eager to celebrate the team’s second consecutive championship. Streets were filled with blue and white as players waved from open-top buses, marking another historic triumph for the franchise.

Yet, one name was missing from the celebrations. It was relief pitcher Alex Vesia.Vesia, who has been a key contributor to the Dodgers’ bullpen, was notably absent from both the World Series and the parade. His absence was not due to injury or contract issues but something far more personal. In the days leading up to the Fall Classic, the Dodgers confirmed that Vesia and his wife, Kayla, were stepping away from baseball to handle a deeply personal family matter.

Alex Vesia’s absence from Dodgers parade tied to private family matter

The 29-year-old pitcher was last seen with the team during the National League Championship Series. Since then, he has remained out of the public eye as he and his wife face an undisclosed family situation. The Dodgers announced on October 23 that the couple would be taking time away, adding, “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”Alex and Kayla had previously shared joyous news earlier this year when they announced they were expecting their first child, a baby girl.

The couple, who often documented their journey on social media, have not posted since October 18 — the day after the Dodgers secured their World Series spot. Fans quickly noticed the silence, offering messages of love and support in the comments.

During the World Series, the Dodgers’ clubhouse showed unwavering solidarity. Pitcher Will Klein told reporters, “We’ve all messaged him. We just want him to know that he’s in our hearts, and we did this all for him.”

The team even found support from their rivals, as several Toronto Blue Jays pitchers honored Vesia by writing his number “51” on their caps.Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised the tribute, calling it a reflection of “the brotherhood of athletes.” Kiké Hernández echoed that sentiment, saying, “For those guys to do that, it’s incredible. Regardless of what happens tonight, we appreciate what they did.”While Alex Vesia missed the parade but his absence was felt during the celebration.
