His stint as a contestant in the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil brought him closer to a wide audience. While his career was successful, his personal life carried a story few knew.

Tragedy Struck When His Wife Was Hit by a Train, Yet He Raised His Special Child With Strength
Mohan Vaidya is known across Tamil Nadu not just as an actor but as a Carnatic musician with a distinct presence in the entertainment world. He has acted in films like “Mark Antony" and became a household name through television shows.
His stint as a contestant in the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil brought him closer to a wide audience. Appearances on popular reality shows such as Cook with Comali cemented his identity as a performer who could cross genres with ease. Beyond the screen, he has also been active in Tamil Nadu politics.
While his career successfully unfolded in public, his personal life carried a story few knew. Mohan Vaidya was married to his cousin, who worked in the railways.
She was a hearing and speech impaired woman, but their life together was steady and warm. They had a son, and for a significant amount of time, everything in the family seemed ordinary and happy.
The Day Tragedy Struck at Egmore
That happiness was shattered by a tragic accident at Chennai Egmore railway station. One morning, while heading to her office, Mohan Vaidya’s wife tried to cross the railway tracks.
She was unable to hear the sound of an approaching train and could not react in time. She was struck and killed instantly. On that day, she had avoided the stairway leading to the foot overbridge, choosing instead to take the shortcut across the tracks.
As if the incident itself was not cruel enough, the post-mortem examination revealed an even heavier truth. Mohan Vaidya’s wife was three months pregnant when she died. The couple had been expecting a baby girl. The sudden accident not only ended his wife’s life but also took away the child they were waiting to welcome.
Raising a Son Amidst Loss
Mohan Vaidya was left to raise their son alone. Like his mother, his son was also born hearing and speech impaired. Losing his mother when he was only three years old made his early years more difficult.
Yet, through support and determination, he grew up and later took up his mother’s job in the railways. Today, he continues service in the same department.
Life offered him some solace when Mohan Vaidya’s son found love. He married his childhood sweetheart, who was also hearing and speech impaired. Their marriage carried echoes of his parents’ story but also stood as a testament to resilience and acceptance.
In a recent interview, Mohan Vaidya recalled these painful events with visible grief. For a man known to millions as a singer, actor, and television personality, his most poignant story lies far from the spotlight. The loss of his wife, the unborn child, and the struggles of raising a differently abled son mark his journey as one filled with sorrow and strength.
