Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru, will be organising a Wildlife Photography Competition and Exhibition as part of the Wildlife Week celebrations from October 2 to 8.
The contest will be held in two categories — Ex-situ Conservation (Zoo Category) and In-situ Conservation (Wildlife Category). Each category will carry two cash awards and three certificates of merit.
According to the zoo authorities, participants can submit two unmounted photographs of size 12” x 18” in each category, along with an entry fee of ₹100 per section. Photographs smaller than the specified size will not be accepted.
In the Ex-situ category, entries must be photographs taken within the Mysuru zoo during the 12 months prior to September 18, 2025. In the In-situ category, participants must specify the exact location where the photograph was clicked. The zoo has also clarified that photographs of pets, garden flowers, captive or restrained animals, and those that have already won awards in similar contests will not be considered, according to a press release.
Only minimal digital corrections such as brightness and contrast adjustments are permitted. Entries with watermarks, borders, signatures, multiple exposures, or images of bird nests and hatchlings will be disqualified. Participants are also required to produce the raw image files with metadata for verification if asked, the release added.
Entries will be accepted between September 8 and 18 during office hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the office of the Executive Director, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Zoo Main Road, Indiranagar, Mysuru - 570010. Along with printed copies, participants must also submit digital files (1920×1080 resolution).
The results will be announced on September 25 and the award-winning photographs will be displayed at the zoo during the Wildlife Week Exhibition from October 2 to 8, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Further details can be accessed on the zoo’s official website: www.mysuruzoo.info.
