Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that people of the country will give a 2/3 majority to BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections and BJP is committed to pass the women reservation bill in Parliament.

Sawant said that he will soon fill the cabinet berth, which is vacant after the death of agriculture minister Ravi Naik.He said that defeat of the women’s reservation bill is injustice to women and they will show opposition whenever elections are held. Sawant said that in case his constituency is reserved for women in the upcoming elections, then he will leave the seat.Reacting to the women’s reservation bill, which was defeated in Parliament, the CM said that the INDI alliance is made up of anti-national and anti-women parties.

“I condemned the stand taken by Congress, DMK, TMC and SP on the bill.”Sawant urged the women in Congress to question their party leaders for not supporting the women’s reservation bill.He said that Congress, which has the first woman PM of the country, denied women’s reservation in the country and BJP has given representation to women in politics.Sawant said that Congress, DMK and TMC have always promoted women in families.

He said that Congress and other parties have only supported women only to seek votes, whereas BJP has passed on various benefits to the women of the country.“It was important to give political reservation for women as it would have turned from women-centric governance to women-led governance. That is the reason BJP wanted to have 33% women’s reservation in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections,” the CM said.
