Will Yash Soni’s Chaniya Toli be able to break Janki Bodiwala’s Vash Level 2 ‘s box office record?

The vibrant world of Gujarati cinema is shining bright, enjoying a remarkable streak of hits. Hot on the heels of the blockbuster 'Vash Level 2', which raked in an impressive Rs 13.64 crore, is the delightful comedy 'Chaniya Toli'. This film has woven its charm, drawing in over Rs 11 crore within just its first nine days.

After films like Chello Divas, Bey yaar, Chaal Jeevi Laiye- Gujarati cinema is once again enjoying its moment in sun with back to back big success this year. It started with Hitu Kanodia, Hiten Kumar and Janki Bodiwala’s Vash Level 2, sequel to 2023’s Vash. The supernatural psychological horror films set the box office on fire as it went on to mint Rs 13.64 crore at the box office. The film directed by Krishnadev Yagnik was released in Hindi and Gujarati languages- Hindi because the Vash was remade in Hindi as Shaitaan and was one of the biggest hits of 2024.

It is being reported that for its digital rights, OTT platform paid about Rs 3.5 crore- highest amount ever for a Gujarati film.And now in complete contrast, a comedy film Chaniya Toli headlined by Gujarati cinema’s superstar

and directed by Jay Bodas and Parth Tridevi has set the cash registers ringing across the country. The film released on the occasion of Diwali and minted Rs 1.2 crore on its opening day. Despite Diwali the film had a steady collection of Rs 1.3 crore on day 2 and Rs 1.35 crore on day 3.

On its 4th day - the film saw a small drop as it collected just Rs 95 lakh but on day 5 ( Saturday) the film jumped by over 68 % to collect Rs 1.6 crore and on day 6 the film earned its highest amount Rs 1.7 crore.

Monday the film again witnessed a drop as it earned Rs 90 lakh, with Tuesday bringing in a jump once again with Rs 1.15 crore collection. On Wednesday( Day 9) - the film earned its lowest ever collection of Rs 85 lakh and with that it touched the Rs 11 crore mark.

Going by the trend, the theatrical run has just gotten started and will be in the cinema halls for three to four more weeks. And if the collection till now is just a glimpse of what it has stored in future, Chaniya Toli could become the highest grossing Gujarati film of the year.
