Woman arrested in cyber fraud case

The police have arrested a 37-year-old woman, identified as Hiral Benanuj Patel of Ahmedabad, in connection with a cyber fraud case involving the theft of private information and financial scams worth several lakhs of rupees.

The woman, an aide of Joel V. Jose, the prime accused in the case, has been traced to her hideout in Ahmedabad.

The investigations so far revealed that the gang had been illegally collecting and selling private data, including live mobile locations and call records, which were then used to defraud people of significant sums of money. Joel V. Jose, a resident of Adoor, has already been arrested and is currently in remand.

Following Joel’s arrest, the police intensified efforts to track down other members of the network, leading to the woman’s arrest. She has been produced before the Pathanamthitta Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, which has remanded her to police custody for further investigation
