Woman beaten to death while trying to save son from attackers in UP

VARANASI: An elderly woman was beaten to death by miscreants when she tried to save her son in Pali village under Kasimabad police station limits in Ghazipur district on Thursday night.

After the crime, the attackers fled the scene. Police have launched an investigation based on a complaint filed by the victim’s son. According to reports, a local resident, Vidhichandra Prajapati, informed police that around 11pm, two local youths came to his house and demanded money. When he refused, they began abusing and assaulting him. He was seriously injured and collapsed on the ground. Seeing her son unconscious, his mother, Mansha Devi (50), rushed to protect him. The attackers then turned on her and fatally assaulted her. She died on the spot due to severe head injuries, triggering panic in the locality. Kasimabad SHO Nand Kumar Tiwari said that an investigation is underway.
