Woman bludgeoned to death after threatening police complaint, 1 arrested

Gurgaon: A 45-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death at Ballabhgarh's Adarsh Sabzi Mandi by a man after she threatened to file a police complaint against him for making unwanted sexual advances, police said.The accused, a local resident, was arrested on Friday, an officer said.Police were informed of the incident after the body of the victim was found lying in the market area on April 22.Inquest proceedings were carried out under Section 194 of the BNSS, and the autopsy conducted at Civil Hospital, Faridabad, pointed to death due to internal injuries. Subsequently, a murder case was registered at City Ballabhgarh police station.Police said the woman, originally from West Bengal, lived in Faridabad for over two decades after getting married to a man from Bulandshahr, UP.At the time of her death, she was living separately from her family for the past 13-14 years and was known to frequent the Ballabhgarh bus stand area.ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya said that after separating from her husband, she had dveloped a relationship with the local resident.

He is an employee of a private company in Sector 24, and has prior criminal cases against him, the ACP said. For an NDPS case, he was jailed. He was released on bail two months ago, the officer said."After his release, he encountered the woman again and their relationship resumed. The woman was reportedly addicted to substances and he paid her money on several occasions," the ACP said.Following days of investigation, police arrested the accused from Mujesar on Friday.Investigators said the relationship between the two had soured recently.During questioning, the accused told police they were both drunk on the night of the incident. "On the night of April 21, the two met near Ballabhgarh bus stand, consumed alcohol and got into an argument after he forced himself on her. As the quarrel escalated, the woman threatened to approach the police, following which he picked up a brick and repeatedly struck her, killing her on the spot," the officer said.Police said the accused will be produced before a court and taken on remand for further interrogation.
