Woman dies after being mauled by stray dogs in Bhadradri Kothagudem district

In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old woman died after a pack of stray dogs mauled her at SC Colony in Chatakonda Gram Panchayat of Laxmidevipalli mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday.

The police identified the deceased as M. Ramulamma, 45, a daily wage worker of Chatakonda. She was returning home from farm work when four stray dogs pounced on her near her house around 11 a.m. The aggressive dogs dragged her to the ground before attacking her on the main street. Two passersby rushed to her rescue and chased away the dogs. Ramulamma suffered multiple deep dog bite injuries on her face and head. She was rushed to a hospital in Kothagudem, where she died while undergoing treatment later in the day.

She was the sole breadwinner of her impoverished family. Her tragic death left her five children including two daughters and three sons devastated. The horrific incident has shone a spotlight on the ‘unchecked’ stray dog menace in Chatakonda and its neighbouring gram panchayats in the industrial hub of Kothagudem.
