Woman dies after car falls into tank in Karnataka’s Belur taluk, family members allege foul play

A woman died after the car she was travelling in, fell into a tank near Arehalli in Belur taluk on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Shwetha, 29, a resident of Channenahalli near Bikkodu in the taluk.

Also in the car was Shwetha’s friend Ravi, who managed to save his life. Shwetha is survived by her husband and two children. Her body was retrieved from the tank with the help of Fire and Emergency Services staff.

Following the incident, Shwetha’s mother, Jyothi, filed a complaint with the Arehalli Police stating that her daughter had been murdered. She suspected that Ravi, who was driving the car, had a role to play in Shwetha’s death.

Arehalli Police said that they were investigating the case, but had not yet determined how the incident occurred.
