Woman, friend get 180 years in jail for abuse of minor daughter

A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court at Manjeri sentenced a woman and her friend to 180 years of rigorous imprisonment under various sections for sexually abusing her 12-year-old daughter. They were slapped a fine of ₹11.75 lakh too.

Judge A.M. Ashraf ordered that the convicts will have to undergo 20 more months in jail if they fail to pay the fine. But they will undergo the sentences concurrently.

The girl was abused for about a year from December 2019 to November 2020 at a rented house at Anamangadu, and then for another year at a house at Vallikkapatta. The court found that the convicts abused the girl after giving her liquor and showing her sex videos.
