Woman killed in hit-and-run accident in Giridih

--- Attachment Content: 28-Year-Old_Mother_of_Three_Dies_in_Giridih.docx ---Divy Khare|TNNBokaro: A 28-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Chintankhari forest in Giridih on Saturday after an unidentified SUV allegedly rammed into her and fled the scene.The victim, identified as Rani Devi of Jamuniyatand village, died on the spot, while her husband Jiblal Sao narrowly escaped.According to police and family members, Rani Devi and her husband, were returning home after consulting a doctor in Birajpur under Birni police station limits. Their motorcycle reportedly ran out of fuel near the forest area on the Palonjia Dhaba-Chintankhari-Jutha Aam road following which the couple started walking, while another youth accompanying them pushed the motorcycle.Jiblal alleged that a speeding SUV coming from the opposite direction struck his wife with great force. The impact threw her onto the road. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he jumped into a roadside ditch.He further claimed that the driver did not stop after the collision and instead ran over Rani Devi’ ‘s head before fleeing, causing her instant death. Police from Bharkatta Outpost reached the spot soon after receiving information.Police said an FIR will be registered once a written complaint is received, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding vehicle through CCTV footage and local inputs.
