Woman killed in hit and run accident on Ghodbunder Road

THANE: A 21-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday night at Nagla Bandar, Ghodbunder highway, Thane, officials informed on Sunday. This is the second fatal incident in a day on the city highways after a Thane police constable was fatally knocked down by a dumper near Cadbury Junction on Saturday morning.According to the police, the victim, identified as Ghazal Tuteja, a resident of a residential complex along Ghodbunder highway, was riding a scooter when an unidentified vehicle rammed into her from behind around 10 PM near the Indian Oil petrol pump.

The collision was so severe that she suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead.Following the incident, traffic movement was affected on the highway, prompting the Kasarvadavali police to rush to the spot and clear the vehicle from the road. Officials said an investigation to identify and trace the unknown vehicle involved in the incident is being started by the Kasarvadavali police.
