Woman killed over dowry in Bihar, mother dies after seeing daughter's body

In a double tragedy, a woman in Bihar's Bhaglapur city was strangled to death by her in-laws allegedly over a dowry dispute. Within hours, the woman's mother also died after the latter saw her daughter's body in a hospital.

The victims were identified as Sunaina Devi and her mother, Babli Devi.

According to information, Sunaina had regular disputes with her husband over his unemployment, while her in-laws made continued demands for dowry.

When the news of Sunaina's death reached her family, her mother was accompanied by a relative to Bhagalpur’s JLN Hospital. On seeing her daughter's body, Babli Dev collapsed in shock.

Doctors later confirmed that Babli Devi had suffered a brain haemorrhage, leading to her death.

Meanwhile, there was also a dispute between the two families over Sunaina's postmortem. However, the police intervened, and the postmortem was conducted.
