Woman loses gold chain in crowd rush at Karnataka's Sri Mookambika Temple

UDUPI: A 64-year-old woman lost her gold chain in a crowd rush at Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur on Friday.In a complaint, Jayanti, 64, a resident of Mudradi village, Hebri, travelled by car along with her daughter Pratima and son-in-law Dheeraj and arrived at Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur village of Byndoor taluk at around 12:30 pm.

While Pratima and Dheeraj were standing in the queue, the complainant told them she would pray at the Sri Veerabhadra gudi and went there.

Suddenly, it started raining and, in that moment, the crowd gathered in the temple premises rushed towards the Veerabhadra Gudi. In the chaos, people fell on the complainant. After the crowd passed, the complainant returned to the place where her daughter was standing in the queue and found that the five sovereign gold chain that was on her neck was stolen. Based on the complaint that between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm, while the complainant was at the Sri Veerabhadra gudi, some unknown persons stole her gold chain, Kollur Police Station registered a case under Section 303(2) of the BNS.
