The Anantapur rural police on Wednesday solved a murder case in a few hours, nabbing a woman and her paramour for killing her husband. The victim, Suresh Babu (43), was fatally attacked late on Tuesday night at Akkampalli, on the outskirts of Anantapur, when he was returning home on a two-wheeler.

The police said that the accused, Baba Fakruddin (34), waylaid Suresh, attacked him with a liquor bottle and brutally stabbed him with a screwdriver, besides crushing his head with a stone.

Soon after Suresh was reported murdered, the police found that the attack was allegedly prompted by Suresh’s wife Anitha (37). The woman was said to be in an extramarital relationship with Fakruddin. When Suresh objected to her behaviour, Anitha developed a grudge against him and eventually orchestrated her husband’s murder.

Deputy SP (Anantapur Rural) Venkateswarulu and Circle-Inspector Shekar said that key evidences were recovered from the spot. The police registered a case and sent the duo for remand.
