A woman was shot by her estranged lover on Tuesday in Ahmedabad for getting engaged to another man. She is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, while the police have arrested the accused.

According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when the woman visited her lover, Arbaaz. The accused allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her at close range following a heated argument. Fortunately, the bullet only grazed her, resulting in minor injuries.

After the shooting, the accused, originally from Madhya Pradesh, fled the scene but was apprehended by police on a bus heading back to his home state.

Investigations revealed that the woman had previously been in a relationship with the accused. Her engagement to another man angered him, leading to his plan to kill her.

He traveled from Madhya Pradesh to Ahmedabad, met her, and shot her with a gun he had purchased in Madhya Pradesh for Rs 28,000.
