Woman SSI dies at police station near Namakkal

AMAKKAL: A woman special sub-inspector (SSI) died at the Belukkurichi police station in Namakkal district in the early hours of Wednesday while taking rest after night patrol.

SSI V Kamatchi, 48, died due to a suspected cardiac arrest, superintendent of police S Rajesh Kannan said. After night patrol, Kamatchi returned to the police station around 2am on Wednesday. She went to a resting room at the station. In the morning, her colleagues knocked on the door of the room. However, as the door was locked from the inside and there was no response, they forced it open. "They found her dead in the room," the SP said.The body was sent to the Rasipuram Government Hospital for postmortem. The police were investigating.
