Woman strangled to death by husband in Medchal

A 22-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death by her husband at their residence in KLR Venture, Medchal, late Thursday night. The victim, Prashanthi, had been married to Ram Babu, 28, a labourer, for over a year and a half. The couple have a five-month-old daughter.

According to the Medchal Inspector A. Satyanarayana, Ram Babu frequently quarrelled with Prashanthi, allegedly suspecting her of infidelity. On Thursday, a similar argument escalated, during which he allegedly strangled her and fled the scene.

Neighbours, alarmed by the sounds coming from the house, checked on the couple and found Prashanthi unresponsive. They alerted her family and the police, who rushed to the spot and confirmed her death.

A case has been registered and efforts are in progress to trace Ram Babu.
