On the completion of 12 years of continuous service to 140 crore Indians under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted the transformation witnessed by both India and Uttar Pradesh during this period. He said, “Over the past 12 years, India has demonstrated its strength, capability and leadership on the global stage."
Speaking on the NDA event held on June 10, CM Yogi said the country and the world witnessed the celebration of Prime Minister Modi’s longest tenure as an elected Prime Minister and his successful leadership journey. He noted that leaders from major countries congratulated Modi and appreciated both his leadership and India’s development journey.
“Over the last 12 years, India has undergone unprecedented transformation, and every citizen today feels proud to be part of a New India," he said.
The Chief Minister said that while governments after Independence formulated numerous schemes, effective implementation often remained lacking. Under Prime Minister Modi, he said, welfare programmes became a mass movement. He cited the opening of crores of Jan Dhan bank accounts, construction of 12 crore toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission, provision of pucca houses to four crore poor families and health coverage through Ayushman Bharat.
He also highlighted initiatives such as Digital India, Start-up India, Stand-Up India and the Mudra Yojana, saying they had provided a new direction to the country.
According to CM Yogi, Prime Minister Modi placed the poor, women, youth and farmers at the centre of governance. He said 25 crore people had been lifted above the poverty line during the last 12 years, describing it as a major achievement in world history.
Speaking about Uttar Pradesh, he said the state had been among the biggest beneficiaries of central schemes. Around 65 lakh people received housing, three crore families got toilets, nearly two crore households benefited from Ujjwala gas connections and 15 crore people received Ayushman Bharat benefits. During the COVID-19 pandemic, 15 crore people were provided free ration.
On women’s empowerment, the Chief Minister said schemes such as Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana Yojana and the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam had strengthened women’s participation in society. He added that students in Basic Education Council schools had received uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, books and sweaters.
He further highlighted the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, Mission Shakti and 20 per cent reservation for women in the police force as key initiatives promoting security and opportunities for women.
Discussing youth welfare, CM Yogi said programmes such as Pariksha Pe Charcha, Mudra Yojana, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India and Khelo India had expanded opportunities for young people and encouraged entrepreneurship.
Calling farmers a priority for the government, he said schemes including PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Crop Insurance Scheme and Soil Health Cards had strengthened the agricultural sector. More than three crore farmers in Uttar Pradesh are receiving PM-Kisan benefits, while sugarcane farmers have been paid over Rs 3.22 lakh crore. Irrigation facilities have also expanded to an additional 24 lakh hectares of land.
The Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Modi’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, citing free testing, vaccination, ration and treatment programmes. He also referred to the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign as an initiative that united the nation through patriotism.
He said Prime Minister Modi’s Panch Pran vision, announced during Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, laid the foundation for a Viksit Bharat by focusing on ending colonial mindsets, taking pride in heritage, strengthening unity, fulfilling citizens’ duties and building a developed India by 2047.
Highlighting cultural and religious revival, CM Yogi said India’s faith and heritage had received long-awaited recognition under Prime Minister Modi. He pointed to the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Dham project, Mahakal Lok and the redevelopment of Kedarpuri as symbols of India’s cultural renaissance.
He also noted that the Ministry of AYUSH and renewed focus on the cooperative sector had strengthened traditional knowledge systems, rural economies and small entrepreneurs.
Sharing his experience as a former MP from Gorakhpur, CM Yogi said he had witnessed the challenges posed by Naxalism firsthand. He contrasted earlier conditions in areas such as Bastar and Kondagaon with their current transformation, saying development and investment were now visible due to strong leadership and effective policies.
The Chief Minister said India’s approach to terrorism had changed significantly under Prime Minister Modi. Referring to operations such as Operation Sindoor, Surgical Strikes and Air Strikes, he said India had demonstrated its resolve to respond decisively to threats against national security and sovereignty.
He further stated that despite challenges in West Asia, developments around the Strait of Hormuz and global economic pressures, India managed to avoid an energy crisis, maintain fuel supplies and keep inflation under control.
Concluding his remarks, CM Yogi said Uttar Pradesh had aligned its development vision with Prime Minister Modi’s goals. The state aims to become a one trillion-dollar economy by 2030, a two trillion-dollar economy by 2036 and a five trillion-dollar economy by 2047. “Building a Viksit Uttar Pradesh alongside a Viksit Bharat and an Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh alongside an Atmanirbhar Bharat remains our commitment," he said.
The programme was attended by BJP state president and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna and other NDA allies and leaders.
