Rio Rancho in New Mexico played host to another action-packed episode of the WWE Raw on Monday, November 3. Played on the heels of Saturday Night’s Main Event, this week’s Raw episode enthralled audiences with exciting entries and multiple intense battles. It included CM Punk’s special arrival to celebrate his Heavyweight Championship crown after defeating Jey Uso and a World Tag Team clash featuring AJ Styles, Dragon Lee, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh. Here are the highlights of the Monday Night Raw.
CM Punk Celebrates Main Event Triumph
After winning the World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, CM Punk kicked off Monday Night Raw by addressing his WWE fans and celebrating his victory over Jey Uso. Punk thanked his wife and also Uso, taking a dig at him, on becoming the world champion. He also warned Seth Rollins to stay out of his way, while naming AJ Styles, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, Finn Bálor, Sheamus and John Cena as some of worthy opponents deserving of the opportunity to claim the honour he possessed.
Punk also cleared the ring of villains after The Vision trio of Paul Heyman, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker arrived and tried to rain on his parade. He left then, wrapping up an extended promo segment ahead of Survivor Series on November 29 at Petco Park in San Diego.
World Tag Team Championship Match
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee united against the Judgement Day duo of Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh. In an intense game, the two teams played aggressively from the word go, as Lee and Balor initially collided and unleashed heavy moves against each other. A tag to Styles saw him square off with McDonagh. When Styles seemed to have gained control against McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio intervened and tried to help him. But his tricks backfired after Balor executed a Coup de Grace on McDonagh. Lee soon fended off all the ringside threats of his team before The Phenomenal One delivered a Styles Clash on McDonagh for the win.
Bayley and Lyra Valkyria vs Asuka and Kairi Sane
Another tag team tussle saw Bayley and Lyra Valkyria join hands against Asuka and Kairi Sane. Fortunes shifted back and forth in the match, with the two teams refusing to concede easy ground to their opponents. In the dying moments, however, Asuka sent the former Women’s Intercontinental champion into Bayley and knocked her from the apron. The Empires of Tomorrow then trapped Valkyria in a strong Asuka Lock, forcing her to accept a submission. It was yet another impressive win for the Kabuki Warriors.
Penta vs El Grande Americano
Penta dominated the initial bouts of the men’s singles encounter against Americano. But then the heel fought back with a Mexican Destroyer, sending Penta down and struggling briefly. When Penta tried to regain his strong footing in the contest, he had Bravo interrupting the proceedings and trying to give Americano the edge. Even Rayo arrived and attempted to leave Penta at a disadvantage in the contest. But all the attempts at cheating inside the ring were neutralised when Penta delivered a decisive Mexican Destroyer to bag home a fantastic win.
Stephanie Vaquer and Nikki Bella vs Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez
Vaquer and Bella collaborated against the Perez-Rodriguez pairing for another tag team face-off on the night, where the two teams gave each other a hard time. Fending off several moves from their opponents, Perez and Rodriguez stood their ground firm. Rodriguez then slammed Vaquer inside the ring, while fending Bella. Once tagged in, Perez came up with a Pop Rox to the Hall of Famer and secured her team’s victory.
