Nick Aldis opened the show with the announcement of the bout between McIntyre and Jacob Fatu before Undisputed Champion Rhodes addressed the WWE Universe.

The latest episode of WWE Smackdown came live from the SAP Centre in Sane Jose, California with a diverse match card featuring Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair and Sami Zayn to name a few.

GM Nick Aldis opened the show with the announcement of the main event between McIntyre and Jacob Fatu before WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes addressed his fans talking them through his bout against Seth Rollins and what it meant, before teasing his upcoming challenge.

Alexa Bliss, Charlotte Flair beat Sol Ruca, Zaria

The WWE Women’s Tag team champions Bliss and Flair were tested in the fight against Ruca and Zaria as the latter tried everything at their disposal to make life difficult for the holders, but the Bliss-Flair duo held its nerve and took advantage of the opening that popped up thanks to Blake Monroe’s distraction ringside as Ruca got carried away.

Sami Zayn lost to Ilja Dragunov

The Canadian Superstar was originally slated to take on Carmelo Hayes, but Miz’s attack on the latter meant that Zayn would be resalted with Dragunov as his opponent. The match threw up an interesting proposition which was thoroughly entertaining, but a distraction in the form of Solo Sikoa was enough for Dragunov to pounce on as he capitalised and pick up a win and continues his successful run.

Motor City Machine Guns beat Los Garza

The matchup between the Alex Shelly, Chris Sabin duo and the pairing of Angel, Berto put up a classic display of the famous tag team action that proved ever so explosive before the Motor City Machine Guns connected with a timed double-team move that resulted in a victory for the duo in grand fashion.

Drew McIntyre beats Cody Rhodes

The fixture was orignially slated to be held between McIntyre and Jacob Fatu, however, it was revealed that the ma who walked in draped in Fatu’s gear was indeed Rhodes. The result, at the end of charged encounter with emotions flowing high, ended in favour of McIntyre as Rhodes faced disqualification for smashing his opponent with his Undisputed title. The champion sought to dish out further punishment as he looked to use his signature to put McIntyre through the announcers table, but was interrupted by the officials.
