WWE SmackDown presented its February 28 episode from the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, Kentucky. It was the go-home episode for the upcoming Premium Live Event, WWE Elimination Chamber, and featured a major alteration to the match card.
Furthermore, it also saw two huge title bouts, new champions crowned, a night of chaos and excitement heading into the final major stop before WrestleMania 42.
Jey Uso attacked backstage
Before SmackDown went on the air, it was reported that a major star was attacked backstage on the blue brand. As it went live, the superstar was revealed to be none other than Main Event Jey Uso. He was found buried under steel pipes and foreign objects as the WWE officials came to help him out.
After the chaotic opening segment that saw the Men's Elimination Chamber match participants brawl, Uso was taken to the hospital in an Ambulance and was ruled out from competing in tomorrow's chamber match at the namesake Premium Live Event.
Paul Heyman and The Vision appeared
Paul Heyman and his Vision cohorts, Logan Paul and Austin Theory, appeared for this week's edition of SmackDown. After realising that Jey Uso was unable to compete in the Men's Elimination Chamber match tomorrow, Heyman asked GM Nick Aldis to put Logan Paul in the match.
Aldis spoke with RAW GM, Adam Pearce, and announced that he will face Jacob Fatu later that night, with the winner getting that spot.
Two major title matches took place
On the men's side, Carmelo Hayes defended his WWE United States title against Matt Cardona and successfully retained the title following an intense in-ring showdown. On the women's side, Rhea Ripley and IYO Sky lost their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to Nia Jax and Lash Legend following a highly exceptional in-ring showdown.
Logan Paul earns a spot in the Men's Elimination Chamber match
Jacob Fatu and Logan Paul battled in the main event of SmackDown to replace Jey Uso in the Men's Elimination Chamber match. The intense and exhilarating match saw interferences from The Vision, the masked man who was revealed to be a stranger, and Drew McIntyre attacking Fatu. All the chaos led to Logan Paul to pin Fatu and secure the final spot in the Chamber match that could lead him to a potential Undisputed WWE title match. Also read: WWE megastar The Rock’s deal with TKO: Equity, stock value, trademark ownership & more
