Alongside the Yamaha Aerox electric, Yamaha also revealed the EC-06 electric scooter. The Yamaha EC-06 is essentially the brand’s much-awaited spin on the River Indie electric scooter, developed in partnership with the Bengaluru-based EV start-up River.
The collaboration, which began in 2024, has now resulted in a scooter that blends Yamaha’s engineering finesse with River’s youthful design approach. The EC-06 will be launched alongside the Yamaha Aerox e in early 2026, with expected prices starting from Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

Although the EC-06 shares its foundations with the River Indie, Yamaha has given it a substantial design overhaul. Some familiar cues, like the signature protruding headlamp, still make an appearance, but the overall styling now feels sharper and sportier.
The scooter sports angular body panels, a bold triangular profile on the sides, and a reworked front apron that gives it a more aggressive stance. The upper section of the apron is finished in black and integrates a vertically stacked LED headlamp, while the indicators sit just below the handlebars. Sitting atop the bar is a coloured LCD display equipped with built-in telematics and a dedicated SIM for connectivity features.
The EC-06 also comes with three selectable riding modes and a handy reverse assist. When it comes to practicality, Yamaha has packed in a generous 24.5 litres of underseat storage - enough for a helmet or a few daily essentials. Powering the EC-06 is a 4kWh battery pack paired with a motor that delivers 6.7kW of peak output, this is the same setup seen on the River Indie. It has a claimed top speed of 90kph and has a 160km on a single charge as per IDC testing standards, though a full recharge takes roughly nine hours.
