Yankees’ Aaron Boone calls out umps for ‘no courage’ after heated 10th‑inning ejection in Yankees‑Red Sox game (Image via X)
In a thrilling tenth inning during their Friday night game against the Boston Red Sox, Manager Aaron Boone and infielder DJ LeMahieu were both dismissed in response to two contentious umpire decisions.
While LeMahieu was thrown for his response, Boone challenged the choice not to overturn a fair ball. MLB news started to buzz the ejection, the calls, and the extra-inning defeat of the Yankees.

Starting on second base in the tenth inning of the game on June 7, 2024, at Fenway Park in Boston, Anthony Volpe, the official declared, though, it was bad. He tried to steal a third. The umpire called him safe. But the Red Sox challenged the call.
After review, it was changed to out.
Then, DJ LeMahieu hit a ball near the first baseline. It looked fair. Yankees manager Aaron Boone argued the ruling. Following a protracted wait, the call persisted. Boone was very upset. He argued and was thrown out of the game.After the game, Boone said, “Anthony would have been safe, but the ground stopped his slide. That hit down the line was fair. They should have had the courage to change the call.”

DJ LeMahieu shares what he said before being ejected
LeMahieu was also ejected in the 10th. After grounding out, he made a comment to the umpire, Jeremie Rehak. It was the first ejection of his career.LeMahieu explained what happened. “I didn’t yell or swear. I just said, ‘That was a brutal call.’ He asked what I said. I repeated it. Then he threw me out,” he said.Even with the drama, Boone praised his players. “We got in late. The guys were tired. But they kept fighting. I’m proud of how they played,” he said.The Yankees lost the game in the 10th inning. Their record in extra innings this season is now 1-4. They have not scored in any of their road extra innings. They hope to bounce back in the next game at Fenway Park.
