Yashita won gold in girls 61kg wrestling at Youth Asian Games, boosting India’s tally to 26 medals. Meanwhile, Khushi Chand and five boxers have reached their respective finals.

Teen wrestler Yashita produced a gritty performance to win gold in the girls’ 61kg wrestling event, leading India’s strong showing at the Youth Asian Games on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old overcame Kazakhstan’s Zhaidar Muktar in a nail-biting final, clinching victory on criteria after the scores were tied 5-5. Earlier, she had dominated Kyrgyzstan’s Akylai Chynybaeva 6-0 in the semifinal.
Her triumph took India’s medal tally to 26 (4 gold, 10 silver, 12 bronze), with the country currently placed 11th overall, as China continue to lead the standings with 47 golds and 100 total medals.
Indian Boxers Assured Medal Finish
In boxing, six Indian pugilists assured themselves of medals by storming into their respective finals.
Khushi Chand (46kg) blanked Mongolia’s Altanzul Altangadas 5-0 to set up a gold-medal bout with China’s Chen Fang-yu.
Chandrika Pujari (54kg), Harnoor Kaur (66kg), Ahaana Sharma (50kg) and Anshika (80kg+) all advanced to their title fights with commanding wins.
In the boys’ 50kg category, Lanchenba Singh booked his place in the final with a 5-0 win over DPR Korea’s An Phyong Guk.
Across Other Disciplines
Elsewhere, Suryaksh Rawat and Vennala Kalagotla progressed to the badminton quarterfinals, while table tennis player Divyanshi Bhowmick entered the round of 16.
In swimming, rising star Dhinidhi Desinghu finished fifth in the girls’ 100m freestyle with a time of 57.72 seconds, rounding off another promising day for India’s young athletes.
