At a press conference on Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and alleged that some individuals had cast votes at multiple booths across Haryana during the polls. The event began with a woman’s photograph displayed on screen, captioned, “Yeh kaun hai?"
Gandhi invited those present to guess the woman’s identity before claiming that she was, in fact, a Brazilian model. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using her image across several polling booths to cast fake votes, a case, he said, was of “vote chori".
Alongside the image, Gandhi presented a QR code, urging attendees to scan it and see for themselves “who she is and what lies behind it." We did the same. We scanned the code, and it led us straight to the website Unsplash.com, a platform known for hosting free-to-use stock images.

The photo, credited to photographer Matheus Ferrero, showed that it had been downloaded more than 4 lakh times and viewed over 59 lakh times. However, the model’s name was not there. Hence, it was not clear whether she was actually once or not, if we are to go by the QR code.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alleged large-scale electoral malpractice in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections, claiming that the image of a Brazilian model had been used multiple times in the state’s voter list.
According to Gandhi, the same photograph appeared 22 times across at least 10 different polling booths.
Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, the Congress leader accused the BJP of “ensuring victory through fake votes and massive manipulation of postal ballots." He said, “Congress lost the election by 22,000 votes, but who is this lady? She votes 22 times in Haryana, in 10 different booths in Haryana. She has multiple names."
The election commission, however, refuted the claims and said that the party’s own polling agents failed to raise objections during the voting process.
