You can now apply for jobs directly through Facebook, again

Meta is relaunching job listings on Facebook after shutting down the feature in 2023, giving US users a new way to discover local employment opportunities directly through the platform. The jobs tab, now live in Facebook Marketplace, focuses primarily on entry-level, trade, and service industry positions within local communities.Users aged 18 and older can browse job postings, filter by distance and category, and apply or message employers directly through Facebook Messenger. Businesses can post openings from their Facebook Pages or Marketplace with details including pay range and scheduling information, similar to posting items for sale.

Job Listing returns to Facebook after two-year hiatus

Facebook originally introduced job postings in 2017, expanding to over 40 countries before gradually scaling back.

The company retired the feature entirely in 2023, though it continued allowing paid job advertisements. The relaunch comes as young workers face a challenging employment landscape, with AI adoption reportedly reducing hiring for entry-level roles.Meta emphasised the platform's community focus in Monday's announcement, stating that Facebook can "help you connect with local people and small businesses who are hiring."

Job listings will also appear in relevant Facebook Groups, making them accessible where local connections already happen organically. The platform explicitly prohibits certain categories including adult services and in-person childcare, despite active nanny-finding groups existing on Facebook.Meta plans to expand the feature beyond its current US-only availability in coming months.
