In a disturbing incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati, a youth was brutally attacked with a stick after allegedly renting a bike, failing to pay the rent, and pawning it.
The victim has been identified as Pavan, and a complaint has been filed against three individuals—Anil Reddy, Jaggareddy alias Jagadeesh, and Dinesh—based on a complaint by the victim’s parents.
While Anil Reddy and Jaggareddy have been arrested, Dinesh remains at large.
Following the attack, Pavan reportedly went into hiding and later released a video stating he was targeted for allegedly deceiving people with false promises of jobs and temple visits. In the video, he denied any political affiliations or links to the incident.
However, his mother alleged that members of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) were behind the assault. She further claimed that the attackers threatened to sell her son’s kidneys unless a ransom of five lakh rupees was paid.
Minister Anagani Satyaprasad condemned the attack and criticised the attack, accusing YSRCP supporters of engaging in rowdyism. He directed authorities to take strict action against those involved.
An investigation into the case is currently underway, and the FIR has been filed under sections pertaining to kidnapping and attempted murder.
