Youth booked on charge of abusing sister

The police have booked an 18-year-old who was suspected of sexually abusing his minor sister in Kozhikode. The case was registered under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act based on the survivor’s statements.

Police sources said the girl was only nine years old when she was allegedly abused. The girl explained her “shocking experiences” to a counsellor who informed the police.

Police sources said details of the complaint could not be revealed as the identity of the survivor and her family had to be protected. Further action would be taken after interrogating the suspect, they added.
