Youth goes for a swim in the Bhima, dies

A 20-year-old youth drowned in the currents of the Bhima while swimming near the Saradagi barrage of Jewargi taluk in Kalaburagi district on Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Mahadev, a resident of Kalaburagi.

According to sources, the incident took place when a group of five friends went to Saradagi barrage and ventured into the water for swimming.

Mahadev got stuck in the water current and drowned.

Fire and Emergency Services teams along with expert divers reached the spot and began a search operation.

A case has been registered at the Jewargi Police Station.
