Youth’s body found in Begusarai village

Begusarai: The body of a 20-year-old youth was recovered under suspicious circumstances from Paspura village under Begusarai Mufassil police station area on Saturday.Begusarai Mufassil SHO Divakar Kumar said the deceased was identified as Mohd Masoom, a resident of Phulwaria village.

“Masoom had criminal antecedents and was a member of a liquor smuggling gang.

He had been jailed several times and was released only a month ago,” the SHO said.Masoom’s father, Mohd Haroon, said his son had gone on Friday to visit his maternal grandparents in Paspura village. “He did not return till late evening and stopped responding to calls after 6pm. Locals spotted his body on Saturday morning. His head had injury marks, and the motorcycle was found lying over him,” he said.

Haroon added that a few days earlier some criminals had come to their house and assaulted Masoom. Police said he was also linked to a gang involved in drugging rail passengers and suspect he may have been murdered due to internal gang rivalry.
