Youth shot near chest by bike-borne assailants in UP's Sonbhadra

VARANASI: A youth was shot at by some motorcycle-riding assailants near Hinduari in the Robertsganj Kotwali area of Sonbhadra district on Thursday night. He was shot near his chest.

The injured man was admitted to the district hospital, from where the doctor referred him to Varanasi. The reason behind the incident is still unclear. The ASP, CO, and other officials visited the hospital to gather information.According to reports, the injured person, identified as Anitesh (23), a resident of Gauri Nisf village in Robertsganj, drives the car for the manager of Indian Bank's Madhupur branch. He worked there since June 12.Around 9:45 PM on Thursday night, he was returning home from Robertsganj on his motorcycle when two assailants on a motorcycle approached him near Hinduari. They started abusing him, attempting to stop his bike and trying to snatch his bike keys. Before Anitesh could comprehend the situation, the assailants shot him. As the bullet hit near his chest, Anitesh fell to the ground.Hearing the gunshot, people rushed to the spot, but by then the assailants had fled. Upon receiving information from passersby, Hinduari outpost in-charge Ashutosh Rai and Robertsganj Kotwal Gopalji Gupta reached the scene. The injured was quickly taken to the district hospital, where after initial treatment, doctors referred him to Varanasi.ASP Anil Kumar and CO Charu Dwivedi also visited the hospital to gather information about the incident. Sonbhadra SP Ashok Kumar Meena said that a team was deployed to search for the attackers, and various aspects are being investigated.
