Leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Friday alleged that the recent legal action against party general secretary (media) Pudi Srihari reflects a disturbing trend of targeting journalists and political communicators. After his release by a court in Guntur, Mr. Srihari, along with other leaders, addressed a press conference.
Mr. Srihari said he had maintained a clean and disciplined career in journalism for over 26 years and had never crossed professional boundaries. He expressed concern that his role was being portrayed as part of “organised activity”, and questioned whether journalism itself was being treated as a criminal act. “I have done no wrong and therefore have no fear,” he said, adding that the developments were more distressing for their implications on society than for personal reasons.
