The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has demanded that the State government take strict action against a Minister in the NDA Cabinet, who is alleged to have made inappropriate advances towards female activists and leaders.
The issue came to light when TDP’s official spokesperson N. B. Sudhakar Reddy revealed the allegations during a television debate. Following this, YSRCP’s combined Chittoor district president and former TTD Trust Board chairman, Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, addressed the media at his camp office on Friday.
“It is unfortunate that a State Cabinet Minister was found to be luring women leaders with promises of coveted positions. He has even travelled with some of them to Hyderabad and stayed with them in star hotels. The government must immediately take deterrent action against the Minister,” Mr. Karunakar Reddy alleged.
Clarifying that the charges were not his own but based on the public admission of the TDP spokesperson, Mr. Karunakar Reddy further accused the Minister of enticing women leaders away from the YSRCP into the NDA alliance with similar assurances of top posts.
“Even as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has cautioned his Ministers to monitor their district legislators and rectify their mistakes, we now see a Minister found wanting in discipline. What action will Mr. Naidu take against him?” the YSRCP leader asked.
