YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called upon the youth to take charge of the State’s future, urging them to embody integrity, purpose, and vision in public life.
Addressing the party’s State Student Wing at Tadepalli on Thursday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the youth must rise to bring about political transformation.
“This is a social media generation, and the direction of governance now reflects the choices of young minds. You hold the power to decide the destiny of Andhra Pradesh,” he said, asking them to emerge as leaders the people can proudly identify with.
He urged the youth to prepare themselves for active politics in the next decade, stressing that true transformation demanded integrity, consistency, and patience. “Good seeds take 10 to 15 years to bear fruit. When youth rise with conviction, nations change, as proven by movements across the world,” he observed.
Recalling his government’s education reforms, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy cited the initiatives such as English-medium instruction in all government schools, TOEFL from Class 3, subject-wise teachers, tablets for Class 8 students, and introduction of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum by 2035. He said that welfare measures such as ‘Amma Vodi’ and ‘Jagananna Gorumuddalu’ ensured that no child from a poor family was deprived of schooling.
He accused the NDA government of undoing years of progress by reversing these reforms, diluting mid-day meal, and blocking ₹6,400 crore worth of fee reimbursements. “Thousands of students are being forced to drop out. This is a betrayal of the poor,” he charged.
On employment, the YSRCP chief said his administration had generated over 40 lakh jobs, including 2.13 lakh permanent government posts and nearly 5 lakh roles in the MSMEs. He criticised the move to privatise medical colleges, noting that his government had established 17 new institutions and 2,550 MBBS seats. “Selling them off is not governance, it is plunder,” he said.
Signature campaign
He announced a one-crore signature campaign and student rallies on November 12, followed by a State-wide agitation in December demanding immediate fee reimbursement. “This is your time,” he told the youth. “Take the wheel, protect your future, and defend Andhra Pradesh’s soul,” he exhorted.
