The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Tuesday said it would press for a discussion in the Legislative Council on the alleged Heritage–Indapur link, and reiterated its demand for resignation of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Chairman B.R. Naidu.
Speaking to the media, MLC Lella Appi Reddy accused the government of making baseless allegations regarding the ghee used in preparing the Tirupati laddu and distorting facts.
“Central laboratories have confirmed there is no animal fat in the samples, but the government is unwilling to acknowledge the findings, and is instead diverting attention,” he said. Though the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) had agreed to a debate, the government avoided taking it up, he said, adding that the party would insist on a discussion when the House resumes.
‘False cases’
In a separate press conference, YSRCP Legal Cell president M. Manohar Reddy alleged that policing in Andhra Pradesh had become politically biased. He claimed constitutional values were being undermined and accused the police of foisting cases against party leaders and cadres despite High Court observations.
He further alleged selective enforcement of law, stating that ruling party leaders were receiving preferential treatment while opposition members faced arrests and harassment. Referring to incidents in Palnadu district, he charged that the YSRCP activists were being targeted, and warned of legal action against officials misusing authority.
