The YSRCP has decided to intensify its Statewide agitation against the government’s move to “privatise government medical colleges”.
At a review meeting of the party’s affiliated wings on Wednesday, YSRCP State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the issue generated widespread public concern. The ‘rachabanda’ and the signature campaign received overwhelming response.
He warned that privatisation of government medical colleges would “crush the dreams” of the poor and middle-class students, and opposed the move to hand over public institutions to private corporates “through backdoor deals.” He termed the move a betrayal of public health and social justice.
Comparing the present administration with the previous YSRCP government, he said, “While Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy established transparent systems of welfare delivery, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reversed governance, marked by exploitation, erosion of accountability, and spread of fake liquor.”
Calling on cadres to fight the government’s “anti-people policies,” he said the YSRCP remained rooted among the masses.
He directed the affiliated wings to coordinate with the central office, complete committee formation, and lead the public campaign against privatisation.
