Move over 'Hot Girls for Zohran!', it's now time for 'Hot Girls for Rama!'. While Zohran Mamdani may have made history by becoming the first Muslim and Indian-origin mayor of New York City, his aloof artist wife has also been the recipient of curious gazes.
The 28-year-old has had a powerful role in shaping and supporting her husband's campaign behind the curtains, not only influencing him but also his style. In an April 2025 interview with GQ, he shared how his wife influenced his style and had advised him to ditch skinny jeans about three years ago. For a person who loves and creates art, Rama sets fashion trends not only for herself but also for her husband.

Though a rare sight during her husband's campaign, she held his hands through the voting day and the victory speech.
The animator and illustrator definitely understands the silent eloquence of art, as she used her outfit of the day to speak her mind. While one might think Rama was wearing an elegant blouse and skirt combination, it's interesting to know that her top featuring jacquard accents is from a London-based Palestinian-Jordanian designer Zeid Hijazi's eponymous label, which aims to draw inspiration from “Palestinian folklore and rebellion.
” Meanwhile, her velvet lace skirt is from Ulla Johnson, a New York City-based fashion brand popular for its free-spirited and feminine aesthetic. The youngest first lady of New York definitely combined her love for New York and hopes for Palestine in her victory day ensemble. But one would be absolutely wrong to think of Rama's style as a one-day hit; she is quite the Gen-Z style icon herself.
Decoding Rama Duwaji's style
Born on June 30th, 1997, Rama has quickly become Gen Z's new fashion obsession.
While other women might have opted to adhere to optics and adopt a more formal style of clothing, with their husband campaigning to be the mayor of New York, Rama has been consistent with her fashion choices.
Free-flowing clothes

The youth believes in exploring the world. They believe in finding beauty in the surroundings and living with freedom, not for it. Thus, just like any other Gen Z, Rama prefers comfort over constraint, donning mostly sleeveless tops and skirts in flowy and breathable fabrics like lace, cotton, mesh and others.
Boots and heels

As an artist who roams around New York and shares what inspired her to create art every month on her social media, Rama travels a lot. Thus, her footwear is mostly a trusted pair of calf-length boots or heels. Paired with her skirts, this footwear choice makes her look taller and elongates her form, a smart fashion choice.
Bold colours

Much like her husband, the first lady of New York has a penchant for black. While her art might consist of a world full of colours, she is mostly spotted in black or white.
Though at times, she loves swapping them out for more subtle colours like olive green, grey, and others..
Minimal jewellery

Some permanent fixtures of jewellery on Zohran Mamdani's hands are a ring handmade by his wife and two other rings, one from his grandfather's pilgrimage to Mecca and the other from his wife's trip to Tunisia. Though she loves accessorising her fits with jewellery more than her husband, Rama is mostly the one who opts for minimal jewellery.
She loves a classic pair of hoops, rings on the hands, bangles and layered necklaces, all in gold.
Girls often face a choice between gold and silver jewellery and it seems the artist opts for the former.
Kohl and eyeliner

A staple when it comes to her makeup, one that was also a part of her victory day look is kohl rimmed eyes. Of Syrian descent, Rama also complements her fits with either some kohl on the lower lids or a winged eyeliner on the upper ones.As a fellow Gen Z, she is the perfect fashion icon who has curated a style personal to her that embraces trends but also sets her apart.
