New York City’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani, made a powerful statement during his victory speech on Wednesday night, taking a direct swipe at US President Donald Trump.

“So Donald Trump, since I know you are watching, I have four words for you, Turn the volume UP!" Mamdani declared, drawing a thunderous applause from supporters gathered to celebrate his historic win.

“New York will remain the city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and as of tonight, clearly led by an immigrant," he said, reaffirming his commitment to inclusivity and equality.

Mamdani also vowed to tackle corruption and hold the wealthy accountable, adding, “We will put an end to the culture of corruption that allows billionaires like Trump to evade taxation and exploit tax breaks."
