The animated film 'Zootopia 2' has broken yet another box office record to become the highest-grossing release of 2025 in North America.After 13 consecutive weekends at the domestic box office, the film finally earned a collection of USD 424.2 million, narrowly surpassing 'A Minecraft Movie', which previously led the market with an estimated haul of USD 424.08 million.
'Zootopia 2' among highest Thanksgiving openings
Released nine years after the original 'Zootopia', the sequel made a splash over the thanksgiving weekend, earning an impressive USD 158 million domestically and USD 559 million worldwide over just five-days. The impressive extended weekend collection, helped the film land the second-largest Thanksgiving opening, and the biggest debut for an animated film. 'Zootopia' also surpassed the collections of 'Inside Out 2' to become Hollywood’s highest-grossing animated film of all time.
It ranked fourth on the list of the largest worldwide opening in history, only behind the superhero sagas - 'Avengers: Endgame', 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'.
'Zootopia' becomes fastest PG film to cross USD 1 Billion
With strong reviews, good word-of-mouth and fan reactions on social media, 'Zootopia 2' also became the fastest PG-rated film to cross the USD 1 billion mark at the global box office, reaching the milestone in just 17 days.
'Zootopia 2' highest global collections
Internationally, the film has left an even bigger mark, by becoming Hollywood’s highest-grossing film overseas with a total collection of USD 1.425 billion. On the whole, the sequel to 'Zootopia', amassed USD 1.85 billion, thus cementing its position as 2025’s top worldwide release.On the all-time global box office chart, 'Zootopia 2' now ranks as the eighth-highest-grossing film in history.
