 Assam police SIT team reaches Singapore to investigate singer's demise

Assam Police officials have arrived in Singapore to investigate the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg last month. A Special Investigation Team, led by CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta and including SP Tarun Goel, will visit the site where Garg passed away.

NEW DELHI: Two senior Assam Police officials arrived in Singapore on Monday to investigate the death of singer Zubeen Garg in the island nation last month, an official confirmed.An SIT under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police is probing Garg’s death after more than 60 FIRs were filed across the state.A senior official said CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta and Titabor Co-District SP Tarun Goel flew directly from Guwahati to Singapore. Gupta heads the SIT, while Goel is part of the nine-member team.The official declined to reveal details of the Singapore probe, but a source said the two SIT members “will visit the place of occurrence where Garg had breathed his last.”“Linking the series of events with the place of occurrence is one of the most important aspects of the entire investigation process. Besides, the Assam Police team will sit with their counterparts in Singapore to discuss the case,” the source told news agency PTI.The celebrated singer died under mysterious circumstances in Singapore on September 19 while swimming in the sea. He had travelled to the Southeast Asian nation to attend the 4th edition of the North East India Festival.
