Zubeen’s vision for Assam aligns with ours: AGP president Atul Bora

Guwahati: On the 41st foundation day of the state’s major regional party, Asom Gana Parishad, on Tuesday, party president Atul Bora said Zubeen Garg’s vision for Assam aligns with the foundational principles of AGP.“The Assam that Zubeen visualised aligns with the birth and functioning of AGP. Every AGP member is working to build a greater Assam that unites people from all religions, castes, and communities,” Bora said.Bora added that the growing interest in regionalism among people who love Assam is a sign of a new awakening within the party. Bora called for collective efforts to protect progressive nationalism and invited everyone to join this journey, seeking blessings from the people of Assam.AGP was born out of the historic Assam agitation (1979-85). The party’s working president, Keshab Mahanta, paid tribute to the martyrs at the foundation day event held at the party headquarters at Ambari in the city.Bora said the party will continue to work strategically for the political, economic, social, and cultural protection of Assam’s indigenous people. He emphasised that seizing power is not AGP’s primary goal. “Our party remains committed to the people of Assam,” he added.During the event, several esteemed individuals who contributed significantly to the Assam agitation and the formation of AGP, including founding president and former CM Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, were honoured.
