Kakinada District Collector Sagili Shan Mohan announced that 1.02 lakh families below the Poverty line have been identified for adoption by donors under the State government’s ‘Zero Poverty - P4’, initiative - Public, Private and People Partnership - for the upliftment of the poor under the Swarnadra 2047 vision, with an aim of achieving a poverty-free Andhra Pradesh by 2029.
On Tuesday, Mr. Shan Mohan met three families which he has adopted in Vadlamudi village of Peddapuram Mandal, Katravupalli village in Jaggampeta, and Prathipadu village in Prathipadu Mandal, all in Kakinada district. The beneficiaries of the P4 programme are referred to as ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ while the donors are known as ‘Margadarshi’.
Mr. Shan Mohan said: “By July 8, as many as 1,710 families have been adopted by donors. By August 15, all 1.02 lakh families will be adopted by government officials and civil society representatives.” The donor is expected to support the family by encouraging education for the needy in the family and providing assistance to meet their basic needs.
